I chose this book after my daughter discover a pop-up book next to it. I was completely shocked because I needed one more book to complete my set. This book is about a new fairy (Prilla) who does not know what her talent is or if she has a talent at all. Tinkerbell takes her to Mother Dove, the wisest creature, who would know if she has a talent. Mother Dove has created an egg that is magical and keeps all the fairies from growing old and dying. One day a hurricane hits the island and wounds Mother Dove. The egg that held everything together was struck by lightning and incinerated, causing Never Land to spin out of control. The fairies started aging and couldn’t fly, Peter Pan lost his tooth, and Captain Hook had a gray hair. Mother Dove sent Prilla, Rani, and Vidia on a journey to restore the egg, heal Mother Dove, and save Never Land with hopes of Prilla finding her talent.  During the quest Rani has to sacrifice her wings to save Mother Dove’s egg. Because she is the only fairy that can swim, she had longed for it so long; but she was unhappy because she missed being able to fly on her own. After the journey, Prilla realize her talent. She is a mainland-visiting clapping-talent fairy. This book is a must have in any home or library.

The illustrations are done in watercolors. Some of the illustrations are done in frames, on double-page spread, and some vignette large and small. The illustrator used lines, composition, and surreal effects. I really enjoyed looking at the illustrations they were impressive and stood out.

This book is recommended for fourth through sixth grade. This would serve as a great read aloud. Ask the student questions about how they would relate to Prilla, trying to find a talent if they didn’t have one already.  Ask the students do they have a talent. This book could be used for character education. This story can be used for character, plot, mood, or setting. This book has no awards.
