I chose this book out of curiosity, just to get a glimpse into the Greek gods and goddess world. Pandora was the first Greek woman created and the wife of Epimethius. Pandora had a major issue with curiosity of what was in a forbidden jar. All day Pandora asked everyone. What was in the jar and why she could not open it? One day her curiosity took over and she opened the jar. Pandora released into the world harm and evil. As she closed the jar, she heard a small voice saying "hope." As the evil entered into the world, Pandora prepared herself for what was about to come of the world.

The illustrations are done in watercolor and colored pencil in paper. The drawings are all done in scratchboard style with a frame around each illustration. The colors are done in earth tone of browns and blues with hints of gold and purple. I really enjoyed the way the text integrated with the picture, it made the book better to read.

I would use this in third through sixth grade. This would be a great way to show character education from each of the gods. A way to introduce this traditional literature is to ask the students do they know anything about Greek gods and write about them in their journal. A teacher could ask, "What do you think would happen if Pandora opened the jar?" or “What happens when your parents tell you not to open something?” This book has no awards.
